Seven consultants are gunning for the biggest of the Ministry of
Defence's (MoD) series of regional prime contracts.
The £750m Central Regional Prime Contract deal has attracted
Babtie, Capita, Halcrow, Hyder, Mouchel, Parkman and White Young
Green.
The winning outfit will land the role of adviser to the MoD on a
raft of key issues up to the award of the main construction
contract and beyond for a period of up to 12 years.
The role of principal support provider includes project, risk,
quality and facilities management, mechanical, electrical and
structural engineering, construction and environmental
advice.
The Central deal involves capital works and maintenance at hundreds
of MoD sites in the region, which covers the West Midlands,
Yorkshire and the Humber, north-east and north-west England and the
whole of Wales.
The MoD is expected to invite firms to prequalify for the
construction works later this year.
Pre-qualification began on the £550m South-East Regional Prime
Contract last week. This will be followed by the £550m East
Regional Prime Contract.
