Wilson Bowden chief enjoys £1m pay packet
David Wilson's remunerations ran to more than £1m last year, a
combination of his basic £650,000 salary from housebuilder
Wilson Bowden, plus a bonus of £325,000 and other benefits in
kind worth £77,000.
Wilson would have grounds for feeling justified in trousering such
a huge sum, as the group of which he is chairman racked up a record
pre-tax profit of £180m in 2002, well ahead of the £140m
in the previous year.
Last year's pay might have failed to match Wilson's spending
tastes, as he made a further £27m from the sale of some of his
shares in Wilson Bowden.
That still leaves enough in reserve to keep the wolf from the door:
with shares currently trading at £7.60 each and Wilson holding
a further 33 million, his residual stake has a value of
£250m.
Two more of Wilson Bowden's directors were paid more than
£500,000: finance director Ian Robertson; and Mike Stansfield,
who heads up the David Wilson Homes division.
