CPA calls on members to prove lowest cost culture across government

The Construction Products Association (CPA) is calling on all its members to produce examples of lowest price use across government contracts to present to the Office of Government Commerce (OGC).

Four responses have already been received by the CPA after it raised concerns following the Achieving Excellence 'Building on Success' conference last month.

At the event, OGC chief executive Peter Gershon claimed that "no evidence" had been received into bad government practice.

The CPA claims this was not the case when it put the statement to its members.

However in recent discussions with the CPA, the OGC said it was willing to receive evidence from the association's members.

The move is sure to spark interest from other groups who will want to share similar experiences with OGC.

"We see this as a positive move to rid lowest cost use by government," said CPA chief executive Michael Ankers. "We are expecting a flood of response although we will only select the ones which push forward the message."
