The Health & Safety Executive (HSE) has received almost 300 responses to its Revitalising Health and Safety in Construction discussion document.
However none of the feedback received has provided any "magic solutions".
HSE chief inspector of construction Kevin Myers told a Construction Industry Advisory Committee meeting yesterday (Thursday) that initial analysis of industry responses was near to completion.
"The responses contain many thoughtful suggestions and provide us with a useful steer on a number of issues," he said. "However, it is fair to say that they have not revealed any simple magic solutions to the health and safety challenges the industry faces.
"This reinforces our view that the answer lies in a wide-ranging agenda pursued by all sections of the industry."
HSE expects to publish an analysis of the responses in late June, although a database of responses will be placed on the department's website by next Wednesday.
