A Scottish contractor has been fined £20,000 after a worker died on one of its sites in July 2002.
Robertson Group, of Elgin, admitted breaching health and safety
legislation following the death of James Weir, 38, in an accident
during construction work at Auchterarder High School, in
Perthshire.
Weir fell from height shortly after a safety net was
removed.
Group executive chairman William Robertson said: "It's a severe
penalty. As the main contractor it was ultimately our
responsibility."
He added that appealing against the sentence "remains an
option."
