EXPRESSION OF INTEREST
Gateshead Council wishes to hear from suitably experienced and qualified
contractors who are in a position to undertake a highway contract
comprising the design and construction of some 900m of retaining walls and
construction of 1200m of carriageway including drainage and street lighting
works, as part of the Centre Link Scheme through the Riverside area and
Rabbit Banks Road. The value of the work will be in the region of £3.5m and
it is expected that tenders will be sought in June 2003.
Contractors who wish to be considered for inclusion on the tender list must

demonstrate their abilities to undertake such works in their application
and provide the following pre-tender qualification information:-
* Company profile/organisation chart;
* Copy of most recent set of audited accounts;
* Details of previous civil engineering contracts undertaken within the
highway environment;
* Name and address of company's banker;
* Confirmation that the company are insured for Public Liability of at
least £5,000,000;
* Evidence of acting in the role of Principal Contractor under the 1994 CDM
Regulations on similar schemes (including a copy of the company's current
Health and Safety Policy);
* Details of Quality Assurance system.
