BUILDING REFURBISHMENTS, FELIXSTOWE
SELECTION OF TENDERERS
Applications are invited from persons wishing to be selected by the Council
as tenderers for the refurbishment of Felixstowe Leisure Centre and the
nearby 91/93 Undercliff Road, Felixstowe, Suffolk.
These two projects are likely to be subject to a single contract but might
be separated. Brief details of the projects, together with approximate
values, are as follows:
 * Felixstowe Leisure Centre: Major refurbishment of parts of
the 18 year old building, which is of composite construction. Work will
include demolition of existing finishes followed by construction and
installation of new partitions, screens, changing room cubicles, drainage,

sanitary installation, suspended ceilings, floor and wall tiling and other
decorative finishes. Electrical and mechanical services work is included
but there will be no work to the Centre's swimming pool and pool hall. The
value of the works is estimated at £480,000.
 * 91/93 Undercliff Road, Felixstowe: Conversion of
approximately 50 year old concrete framed buildings, mostly unoccupied but
used partly as the Council's sub-office, into new Tourist Information
Centre and upgraded sub-office. Work will be mainly on the ground floor and
include demolition of existing walls and partitions followed by the
construction of new partitions, the creation of a welcoming redecorated
environment, and alterations necessary for compliance with current
Regulations. The value is estimated at £185,000.
Both projects are programmed for commencement of construction in August 2003.
Those wishing to be included in the list(s) of tenderers must apply in
writing, by 15th April 2003, to the Council's Director of Planning and
Leisure, at the address given below, giving the following details:
 * Applicant's full name, address and trading status
 * Experience of at least three projects involving similar work
 * The names of two clients for whom that work has been
undertaken, and who may reliably be approached for references
 * Non-limited applicant to provide full accounts for the last
three years
 * Limited company to provide:
 *  Details of registered office
 *  Registration number
 *  Parent company name and registration number
 *  Full (not abbreviated) copies of company  accounts
for the last three years
Failure to provide all the information sought will make the processing of
an application impossible. Applicants for previous projects should not
assume that earlier submissions have been retained.
