SUFFOLK COASTAL DISTRICT COUNCIL
DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF STORE BUILDING
SELECTION OF TENDERERS
Applications are invited from persons wishing to be selected as
tenderers
for the design and construction (under a single contract) of a new
store
building at the Council's Ufford Depot, near Woodbridge,
Suffolk.
The building will be single storey, approximately 90m x 10m. It
will be
part secure/part open, with all shutter doors and openings along
one of its
90m sides. The Council envisages a simple, uninsulated, unheated
building,
possibly of modular form, with a steel and/or aluminium frame and
cladding,
but will be happy to consider alternatives that combine economic
advantage
with practicability and acceptable appearance. The design and
construct
contract will include the removal of the concrete base of an old
store (now
demolished), and the provision of foundations and floor for the
new
building.
Construction is programmed to commence August/September this
year.
Those wishing to be included in the list of tenderers should apply
for an
information pack giving further information about the project
and
building's requirements. Following that, applicants will be
required to
submit, within two weeks, full details of their experience and
status,
together with outline proposals and budget estimates, from which
the
Council will draw up its list of tenderers. Tenders will be
assessed on a
combination of whole-life cost, quality and life expectancy.
Applications must be made in writing, by 15th April 2003 to:
