Skanska has clinched two turnkey contracts on the Isle of Grain, Kent, worth £80m.
The deals involve converting National Grid Transco's terminal into a liquid natural gas importation (LNG) facility. The first scheme involves refurbishing and modifying four 50,000m3 tanks.
The second project comprises a new deep-water jetty on the River Medway, allowing purpose-built LNG ships to dock and unload.
The project also involves the construction of a 3.5km cryogenic pipeline to transport LNG at temperatures of -160ºC.
