The increasing importance of attachments in the powered access
market has been underlined by A-Plant Powered Access's purchase of
£1m-worth of JLG machines.
The deal consists of 450AJ, 600AJ and 800AJ articulated booms, all
with integral generators as standard. The generators are designed
to facilitate the use of power tools and other equipment from the
boom's platform.
"There's been a positive reaction to machines with extra features,"
said A-Plant marketing managing director Paul Mooney. "We're buying
what the market's asking for, as well as looking for ways to
differentiate ourselves."
Operations director Kevin Foord said: "The generator-mounted booms
provide a cost-effective package for customers, avoiding hiring a
generator when working with the access platform."
"These machines also offer health and safety advantages: the
operator is protected from the noise and fuel emissions that might
result from having a small generator in the cage; and there are no
trailing leads, thus increasing safety on the ground and when
manoeuvring the boom."
