DTI appoints construction insurance expert

The Department of Trade & Industry (DTI) has appointed an insurance expert to help contractors get insurance cover.

Paul Hayward joins the DTI's construction sector unit on Monday (14 April) on a six-month secondment from Royal & Sun Alliance.

His job includes assessing how the construction industry currently manages insurance risk and developing best practice guidance to help firms secure affordable cover. He will also look at ways of rewarding good health and safety practice and will work with other government departments in connection with the Department of Work and Pensions' review of employers liability insurance.
