Allenbuild has just right chemistry for £5.7m contract

Allenbuild has secured a £5.7m contract with the University of York, for the design and build of its new state-of-the-art chemistry department.

Procured on a two-stage basis, a four-storey steel framed building will provide nearly 3000m2 of space including controlled environment rooms, research, laser and microbiology laboratories, fume cupboards, data processing areas, stores, offices, seminar rooms and social areas.

Work on the 59-week project will teake place at the heart of the university campus so careful planning and security measures will be implemented to ensure minimal disruption and to ensure a safe environment is maintained at all times.

The rest of the project team is: architect, RMJM; quantity surveyor, Turner & Townsend; structural engineer and m&e engineer, Faber Maunsell.
