SELECT LIST OF TENDERERS FOR BUILDING WORKS
(UNDER PARTNERING AGREEMENT)
CAPITAL BUILDING PROGRAMME MIDDLESBROUGH (TWO SEPARATE CONTRACTS)

Applications are invited from suitably experienced Contractors with the
appropriate technical capabilities and financial resources who wish to be
considered for inclusion on each of the Council's Select List of Tenderers
for the following building projects to be undertaken under a Partnering
Agreement.
Ormesby Comprehensive School - Extensions and Adaptations. Approximate
value in the region of £2.0m. Project to commence July 03 and completion
April 04.
Acklam Grange School - Sports Hall and Community Accommodation - New

Opportunities Fund (PE and Sport) and New Deal for Communities. Approximate
value in the region of £1.5m. Project to be completed in August 04.
Criteria for the award of contract will be based on cost, quality, previous
experience of partnering (or their proposed process) and substainability.
Applicants who have not applied for inclusion on a Select List of Tenderers
for Building Works in the preceding 12 months must include the following
information in their application. Applicants who have made applications in
the preceding 12 months need not provide the following information, but
must identify the application on which they wish to be assessed.
* If a Company, proof of enrolment on a professional trade register,
or register of Companies in the Country in which the Contract is
established.
* Financial status and Bankers Statement.
* Balance sheets/accounts for the past three financial years,
including a statement of turnover on building work.
* Previous experience in building practice under a Partnering Agreement, or
their proposals for the Partnering process.
* A list of building works of approximately £1.5-2.0m in value
carried out during the past three years, the value and site of each job,
the organisation for whom executed and accompanied by certificates of
satisfactory execution for the most important works.
* Evidence of the Contractors contribution to Sustainability issues.
* Evidence of the Contractor's educational and professional qualifications
and those of the firm's managerial staff and, in particular, those of the
persons responsible for carrying out the works.
* Statement of the technicians or technical services which the Contractor
can call upon for carrying out the work, whether or not they belong to the
firm.
* Statement of the firm's annual average manpower and the number of
managerial staff for the last three years.
Contractors should be aware that new requirements to promote Health &
Safety in the United Kingdom came into effect from 31st March 1995 in the
form of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 1994.
It is intended that for this contract the successful tenderer will be
appointed to fulfil the duties of the Principal Contractor under the
Regulations. To be awarded the contract therefore, tenderers must satisfy
the client as to their competence and resources for health and safety and
be willing to accept the appointment of Principal Contractor and the duties
thereof.
Interested Contractors should submit the above details to the Head of
Transport and Design Services, (Code OCAG), Middlesbrough Council, PO Box
65, Vancouver House, Central Mews, Gurney Street, Middlesbrough TS1 1QP to
arrive not later than noon on 6th May 2003.
