Welsh Water advertises contracts worth £2bn

New Asset


Dwr Cymru Welsh Water has advertised the first AMP4 contracts worth more than £2bn.

Currently there are eight contracts for asset operation and maintenance contract with possible durations of 10 to 15 years and a current annual value of around £150m in total. Each are subject to five-yearly price and performance reviews. The asset investment currently comprises six contracts with durations of five to 10 years and a current annual value of £200m.

However, the client is inviting the industry to "signal what configuration of asset operations contracts offers the best value for money".

Consortia can bid for a maximum of four asset operations contracts (water operations north and south, and wastewater operations north and south), whether individually or in any combination.

Sewerage and sewage pumping activities will be integrated with the sewage treatment.

Pre-qualification questionnaires need to be returned by July, and the tenders go out later that month.

A shortlist should be decided by July 2004 with contracts awarded in November 2004.
