Three more construction workers have been killed or seriously injured in accidents in the past few days.
Firstly, a roads worker died following an accident at Lougher,
Annascaul. Ireland''s Health and Safety Authority is investigating
the accident to Kerry County Council employee Tom Flaherty, 54, who
was crushed by a road roller after it moved backwards on to
him.
Secondly, Gavin Slessor, 26, a fitter employed by oil-services
engineer, ABB Vetco Gray, Aberdeen, is critically ill in Aberdeen
Royal Infirmary having undergone a double amputation. An eye
witness said that he was struck and crushed by a three-tonne
pod.
And Marcus Frost, 26, an employee with engineer Atkins of East
Anglia is in a critical condition in Addenbrooke''s Hospital,
Cambridge from injuries he sustained while working on the A47 trunk
road at West Bilney. Frost was struck by a vehicle while
undertaking measurements.
