Mentoring programme for women gets off ground

ICEFLOE, the Institution of Civil Engineers' (ICE) Equal Opportunities forum, in conjunction with JIVE Partners, has now launched its mentoring programme for women members.

Designed to help increase the representation of women in the construction industry the ICE programme is using the powerful tool of mentoring to support women civil engineers at all levels in facing the challenges of developing successful careers in civil engineering.

JIVE is part of the European EQUAL initiative focusing on breaking down gender segregation in engineering and construction and has considerable experience in mentoring women in non-traditional areas.

The mentoring programme is particularly focused at supporting women during the professional review process, planning or returning from a career break, rising through the profession and breaking the 'glass ceiling'.
