£250k training push pays off
Lawrence has invested £250,000 in recruiting and training up
new staff for its push into the low-pressure gas market. The
investment has already started to pay off with the award of three
contracts in Yorkshire, Hemel Hempstead and Bristol.
"Low pressure was the one area of gas work we weren't in," said
Hargreaves, "and it's a very buoyant market right now. Having
trained up new gangs, we immediately found them work. We're still
taking people on, both untrained and trained, all over the
UK."
Hargreaves has achieved his aim of creating four operating
divisions within Lawrence and all with a similar turnover:
pipelines, process plant, utilities and civils.
"We started the civils operation from scratch and it's gone well,"
said Hargreaves. "It does turnkey work with the other three
divisions, as well as stand-alone projects for external clients."
