Jarvis has won the £23m PFI deal for the London Borough of Croydon to provide a new secondary school and public library.
Known as the Ashburton Learning Village, the scheme involves replacing the existing Ashburton Community School with a new three-storey secondary school, incorporating a public library. Facilities will inlcude a floddlit all-weather playing field. The existing library will be redeveloped as a nursery.
The whole-life value of the scheme is £67m. Work is due to begin in January 2004 for completion in April 2005. The maintenance period is 30 years.
Meanwhile Jarvis has now reached financial close on the £15m PFI deal to provide the University of Reading with 400 rooms at St George's Hall.
