Constructionline has formed a joint initiative with the
Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) and a separate
initiative with the Commission for Racial Equality (CRE).
CSCS will be issuing new 'Certificates of Commitment' for those
firms that indicate the percentage of their workforce that are
fully-qualified CSCS cardholders.
Constructionline will display this information to enable clients to
identify firms that are employing a CSCS-registered and qualified
workforce.
The initiative is intended to boost awareness of the CSCS scheme
among public sector bodies and encourage companies bidding for
public sector work to require their workforce to hold CSCS cards.
Procuring clients will also be encouraged to use Constructionline
as it will be the only source of a firm's commitment to CSCS
available online.
In a separate move, Const-ructionline, in collaboration with the
CRE, has amended its equal opportunities data requirements and made
them criteria for registration.
Simon Kelleway, Construc-tionline director, said: "Our initiative
with the CRE will enable clients to view at pre-qualification
companies' responses to questions on equal opportunities and race
equality, and evaluate these to ensure all their contractors have
good enough equality standards for the contract in question, as
recommended in the new CRE guidelines."
