JCB makes top 30 private company list

JCB was the highest placed construction-related firm in The Sunday Times Top Track 100 list of Britain's biggest private companies.

The plant manufacturer was in 30th place, a fall of five places from last year. Right behind JCB was Sir Robert McAlpine.

Three other firms made the top 50: Miller (43rd); Laing O'Rourke (45th); and Shepherd (50th).

A further eight firms made the top 100: mansell (57th); Wares (equal 60th); Bowmer & Kirkland (62nd); NG Bailey (70th); Fairview New Homes (72nd); Bloor (78th); Arup (equal 81st); and Mott MacDonald (83rd).
