Matthews leaves HA to join Parsons Brinckerhoff

Highways Agency (HA) chief executive Tim Matthews has resigned from his post to become managing director of Parsons Brinckerhoff.

He will take up the new position in October, as government regulations state that there must be  three-month gap public sector and private sector appointments.

Government guidelines also mean Matthews will not be personally involved either in contracts with the HA or contracts within its gift for a period of six months.

The Department will be holding an open competition to appoint a successor and in the interim, General Director of the Drive, Vehicle and Operator Group, Stephen Hickey, will take on the chief executive's duties.
