Taywood finalises Welsh Assembly contract

Taylor Woodrow's final design and cost for the Welsh Assembly has been agreed by the National Assembly of Wales.

The contract has been set a lump sum cost of £40.9m. Work is scheduled to begin on the debating chamber in August. Completion is set for August 2005.

The Richard Rogers Partnership, Arup and BDSP will work with Taywood on the project.

The building has been designed to meet the Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method's 'excellent' rating.

First Minister for Wales Rhodri Morgan said: "What we have sought is a landmark building, but with a fixed price ost and value for money. The lumps sum contract we have secured with Taywood provides us with that cost certainty."
