Wates sells joinery business

Wates Group, the privately owned construction services and development company, has sold Charles Barrett Joinery to Bernard Bader for an undisclosed sum.

Charles Barrett Joinery was part of an acquisition made in 1998, and is no longer a core activity within the group.

Struan Robertson, Wates Group chief executive officer, said: "We are pleased to have found such an experienced purchaser for the business. As many other construction and development companies have found, the running of a joinery shop and a large scale business are incompatible.

"Charles Barrett joinery will now become a preferred supplier for the group's bespoke joinery needs and we look forward to continuing our relationship with the organisation."
