INVITATION TO TENDER
FOR EQUIPMENT
SERVICE CONTRACT

Bristol City Council, Bristol North PCT and Bristol South and West
PCT are progressing integration of their equipment loan services.
Bristol City Council, as lead partner, is inviting organisations to
apply to tender for a contract covering provision, delivery and
installation of equipment in people's homes. The objective of this
service is to promote independent living, safety and meet the
nursing needs of people at home. The contract will also include
collection, cleaning and repair of equipment that is surplus to
requirement, as well as storage and reissue of equipment. Planned
maintenance and emergency repairs for electrical and other

equipment will also be required. Approximately 22,000 items of
equipment are issued each year. The service is intended only for
people who live within the Bristol city boundary, and will be called
the Bristol Equipment Service. This contract will run from 1st April
2004 for 5 years (subject to contract compliance), with an option
to extend for a further 2 years.
The tender process will follow a restricted tender procedure.
Suitably qualified organisations will be selected from applicants,
and the selection criteria used will include financial and technical
evaluation. This contract is subject to EU procurement regulations
and a Contract Notice has been placed in OJEU for 14th July,
2003. All applications and tender submissions must be in English.
It is anticipated that selected applicants will be invited to tender on
16th September 2003.
