Contracts for Waste Disposal
Norfolk County Council, in accordance with Section 51 of the
Environmental
Protection Act 1990, wishes to invite tenders for contracts with a
duration
of one year for the disposal of controlled waste collected within
its area
by waste collection authorities and others.
Existing contracts expire at Costessey Waste Recycling Centre,
King's Lynn
Resource Management Centre and Caister Transfer Station on 31 March
2004
and at Aldeby landfill site on 31 July 2004. The total amount of
waste
disposed of under these contracts is approximately 95,000 tonnes
per annum.
A detailed draft specification may be inspected free of charge at
County
Hall, Norwich between 10.00am and 4.00pm, Monday to Friday, from 28
July
2003 to 29 August 2003. During that period any person will be
supplied with
a copy of the specification on request and on payment of a charge
of £50.00.
The County Council intends to invite tenders for the service in
accordance
with sub-paragraph 20(4) of Schedule 2 of the Environmental
Protection Act
1990. The County Council anticipates that it will formally invite
tenders
in November 2003 for return in January 2004.
Any waste disposal contractor who wishes to submit a tender for the
service
must notify the County Council of their wish by 3.00pm on Friday 29
August
2003 by writing to the Director of Planning and Transportation,
County
Hall, Martineau Lane, Norwich, NR1 2SG. Each person wishing to
tender will
be required to complete a questionnaire which will be available
from 18
August 2003 and must be returned by 3.00pm on Friday 19 September
2003.
