Carillion has been named preferred bidder for the £200m Queen Alexandra hospital PPP in Portsmouth.
Carillion is in a 50-50 jv with Th Royal Bank of Scotland and will develop the 1,200-bed acute hospital, comprising new build and reconfiguration of existing facilities. The construction work is worth £200m, while the 33-year concession period brings the total value to approximately £1bn.
Carillion beat the Alfred McAlpine-led Key Health Group.
