The largest single PFI healthcare scheme to come up in the UK so far, the £800m Paddington Health Campus in west London, will be advertised later this year.
The massive project is being developed by the Royal Brompton and Harefield NHS Trust, St. Mary's NHS Trust and Imperial College London.
The campus will provide 1,088 beds. Construction work will involve a mix of new build and refurbishment of existing buildings and infrastructure.
Once complete the campus will provide: leading heart and lung specialist centres at the Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospital; a major teaching hospital for north west London and clinical care facilities at St. Mary's Hospital; a major specialist children's centre; and a new medical research facility for Imperial College London.
There are also additional plans for GP services and other primary care provision in association with the campus, as part of Paddington Waterside, the commercial regeneration project centred around Paddington's canals.
The scheme is expected to be officially advertised in the OJEC in the last quarter of this year.
