"No delay on the dome", says developer
The developer of the Millennium Dome has today (Wednesday) denied
reports that the reopening of the Greenwich attraction could be
delayed until 2007.
The denial came after the Guardian newspaper yesterday
reported that the 24-month project to turn the London site into a
26,000-seat sports complex may not start until 2005.
The report claims that the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister
stated that the companies behind the project, the Anschutz
Entertainment Group (AEG) and Meridian Delta Limited (MDL) would
not start work on site for another two years. Subject to planning
permission being secured.
However MDL said that planning had proceeded with tremendous pace
and there was a joint desire to get started on site as soon as
possible.
"There is no delay - the project is making excellent progress with
development starting next year," it added.
