The six teams of architects vying for the right to draw up the plans for London's bid for the 2012 Olympics should know later today (Thursday) who has been successful.
The winning consortium's blueprint will have to show where major venues like the Olympic stadium and village will go and outline how the site will be regenerated, even if London is unsuccessful with its bid.
Consortiums headed by Lord Foster, the man behind City Hall, and Lord Rogers, the Mayor of London's advisor on architecture lead the chase for the work.
But the Swiss architects who created the Tate Modern, Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meuron, and HOK, the team behind the new Wembley Stadium, are also on the shortlist.
The most likely location for the games is the lower Lea Valley, a rundown area of east London.
Whoever wins the competition will only have until the end of November to come up with their ideas.
