The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) has today (Friday) announced a major new Workforce Mobility Research Programme to track skills needs and the movement of labour into the south east and London regions.
Working alongside the Engineering Construction Industry Training Board and the South East England Development Agency, CITB's programme will is also designed to help identify which occupations new recruits to the construction industry come from.
It is hoped that the results of the programme will aid the development of future training programmes and create greater understanding of the local construction labour market.
The Workforce Mobility Programme will be conducted on-site with over 3,000 workers from 100 construction sites across the south east and London.
The CITB is also calling for all construction workers in the south east to take part in the research programme online by clicking on www.citb.co.uk and following the links.
The Programme will run from July until September, with the results published and communicated to contractors in December.
