Scots put drawbar trailer to use
The Scottish Borders Council highways department has increased its
use of other equipment with the purchase of a King Trailers drawbar
trailer. The combination is plated at 44t and uses interchangeable
bodies on both the tri-axle trailer and Daf six-wheel prime mover
mounted via hooklift systems fitted to both parts of the rig. This
enables the rig to carry any plant, tipping or box bodies and waste
containers in any combination. Fleet manager Ron Linton said:
"Because it can be used for a variety of tasks, it is always being
used - utilisation of the equipment is 100%." Further innovation
comes with a retractable drawbar fitted to the trailer that enables
the unit to be loaded from either end. Landing legs at both ends of
the trailer provide stability during loading and its front axle
lifts to reduce tyre scrub.
