Ward Building Components is urging contractors to save money and
time by specifying the right steel floordecking for their
projects.
The North Yorkshire-based company has launched an awareness
campaign - 'Cut the Con' - to highlight how contractors may
ultimately be spending more on concrete than they need to.
"The 'con' arises when contractors are sold low-priced floordecking
which often requires higher volumes of concrete than is necessary,
subsequently leading to increased labour and total floor costs,"
said sales and marketing director for structural products Ian
Hodgeson.
Ward recommends that contractors opt for its trapezoidal Multideck
profiles.
"Due to their shape, other floordeck profiles can require up to 30%
more concrete than Multideck," said Hodgeson.
Nottingham-based steel floordecking fixer specialist MSW Steel
Decking is backing the campaign.
Managing director Derek Johnston said: "It's time to alert
contractors to the time and money they could save. We have used
Ward Multideck for over 10 years and can confirm the outstanding
savings in concrete that can be achieved against traditional
decking profiles."
