Utility contractor TJ Brent has announced
its second set of annual results, with a record turnover of
£74m generating a pre-tax profit of £1.4m.
The business resulted from a management buy-out from the Pennon
Group in December 2000. Based in Bodmin, Cornwall, it has term
contracts with South West, Wessex, Mid Kent, and United Utilities
water companies.
Commenting on the latest results (12 months to December 2002) Tim
Read, managing director, today said: "This is the second year of
operation since the mbo and we have maintained the momentum
achieved in the first year. We are on track to deliver our
five-year plan.
"We are interested in solid sustainable growth rather than one-off
spectaculars. By targeting growth of around 10%-20% per annum, we
feel able to ensure that the Brent brand is not diluted by too many
new employees who have not been integrated
"With over 1000 employees, Brent has one of the highest
employee-to-turnover ratios in the industry. We consider this vital
in ensuring safety and quality."
