Construction of a New Sports Hall and external Climbing Wall

Building contractors experienced in general construction work in
occupied
schools wishing to be considered for selection to tender for the
above
works should submit their names to the Chief Executive and Director
of
Administration, Room 111, The Town Hall, Wandsworth High Street,
London
SW18 2PU by Friday 29th August 2003, quoting ref.
ED/PD&GS/SSC1
The works will consist of the construction of a new four-court
sports hall,
including changing facilities and ancillary accommodation, an
external
climbing wall, an external tennis court, car parking facilities and
hard
and soft landscaping.
It is anticipated that the cost of the building works will be in
the region
of £1.6m. This work will be undertaken whilst the school is in
occupation.
In their application contractors must clearly demonstrate their
proven
experience and capabilities to undertake this type of work. All
applicants
MUST submit the following information with their reply:
1. The full name of the Company wishing to be considered to
tender.
2. Company profile, including details of management
structure,
resources, labour force, technical and supervisory staff.
3. Evidence of their status under the Construction Industry
Tax
Deduction Certificate Scheme.
4. Confirmation of insurance cover under Public Liability of
£5,000,000 Sterling.
5. A copy of the Company's Audited Accounts, and those of any
Parent
or Holding Company, for the last three years, the latest of which
should
not be more that 18 months old.
6. Evidence of acting in the role of Principal Contractor under
the
1994 CDM Regulations, particularly on similar schemes in the
Education
Sector.
7. Details of projects recently undertaken of a similar scale
and
scheme content in schools. From this list select three projects
that best
demonstrate the range and quality of the work undertaken and the
names and
addresses of three technical referees who are able and willing to
provide a
reference to the applicant's competence.
8. The name, address and telephone number of the Company's
bankers.
9. A copy of the Company's policy statement produced in
accordance
with Section 2(3) of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
10. A copy of their Equal Opportunities Policy.
Failure to provide the requested information will automatically
lead to
exclusion.
A Performance Bond in the sum of 5% of the tendered sum will be
required
from the successful Contractor.
The award of the contract will be based on economically most
advantageous
tender.
It is intended to restrict the Tender List to a maximum of 6-8
Firms.
Selection will be based on proven technical competence, experience
of
working in an occupied school and financial status.
It is anticipated that the invitations to tender will be issued
during
September 2003.
Accompanying applications for other advertisements placed by
Wandsworth
Borough Council will be ignored. Late applications will not be
considered.
