Liebherr has launched its first tower crane to be equipped with a crawler track undercarriage. The company claims it will offer a more versatile and manoeuvrable lifting alternative to standard models on busy and restrictive sites.
The 32TTR is a fast-erecting tower crane that features crawler track technology accrued from the company's mobile crane experience. It can travel around site even in an upright position with a maximum speed of 25m/min.
Other features include a tele-scopic jib that can be extended to seven different lengths, with a maximum of 30m, and a 24m maximum hook height.
Dermot O'Neil, UK and Ireland tower crane sales and service manager, said the 32TTR could be used instead of telehandlers or small mobile cranes because of its versatility. "This crane is far more environmentally friendly than a telehandler and has more options," he said.
"Because of its manoeuvrability, a contractor could replace any number of tower cranes with just this one," he added.
Also new from Liebherr is the 540HC-L fly jib crane, which the company said is suitable for restrictive high-rise projects, where space is limited and crane density is high.
The crane can operate at a steep angle and its 7.5m slewing radius is one of the smallest in it class, claimed the company.
"This crane is a streamlined version of our previous 500 model," said O'Neil. "It has an extended jib length and, with the ballast carried on top, there is no interference with cranes working at lower heights."
It has a choice of eight jib lengths and a maximum load capacity of 4.8t at a radius of 65m. It is also equipped with an externally mounted cab.
O'Neil said: "This gives the operator an unhindered view of the job site."
