A fourth tranche of NHS LIFT schemes is on the cards. Department of Health (DoH) officials have asked Primary Care Trusts to identify potential candidates for 12 more schemes, sources told CJ.
Partnerships for Health, the joint venture between Partnerships UK and the DoH, declined to comment, but a source close to the DoH told CJ: "Officials are talking to health authorities to see if there are sufficient suitable locations. They are asking for expressions of interest from Primary Care Trusts."
Another source told CJ: "There will almost certainly be a fourth wave of LIFT schemes, which will most likely be advertised in the OJEC next April."
One source said: "It is not just a case of revisiting the schemes that didn't make the last three tranches, because many of them didn't make the grade because they were too bitty. They have to be the right size to be interesting to the private sector."
