The Health & Safety Executive has
launched a pilot programme to help protect construction workers
against health hazards.
The Constructing Better Health initiative offers
best-practice management solutions to reduce exposure to key health
risks associated with construction work.
It will provide eligible employers with free on-site risk
assessments, free advice and guidance for both employers and
workers and further specialist support, if required.
The main adverse health effects associated with construction
include musculo-skeletal disorders, noise-induced hearing loss,
hand arm vibration syndrome, asbestos and cement dermatitis
