Aggregate Industries buys paving and landscaping business

Aggregate Industries (AI) has bought Supreme Concrete's paving and landscaping division to widen the customer base of its Bradstone business.

The sale involves Supreme's Astley factory near Stourport-on-Severn in Worcestershire and its paving manufacturing equipment at Barnwell near Oundle in Northamptonshire.

Bradstone will continue to supply Supreme paving and landscape products from the Astley factory, and the division's 24 employees will transfer over to Bradstone.

AI's group chief operating officer, Bill Bolsover, said: "We were attracted to the Astley division because it has many synergies with the Bradstone brand. The sale provides Bradstone with the opportunity to widen its customer base and offer existing customers an increased choice of high quality paving and landscaping products."

Although pleased with the speed in which it grew the business, the Supreme board feels the "time is now right to concentrate on the further development of our core business".

"The disposal of this division underlines our commitment to focus on the core business of Supreme's concrete fencing and building products, as well as the prestressed sector," added Supreme's managing director Stewart Cosby.
