Amec completes disposal of Spie

Amec plc, the international engineering services company, has today (Friday) completed the disposal of 51% of the capital of Spie Batignolles to Financiere Spie Batignolles, the management buy out vehicle.

The sum paid for the regional French construction business was £10.7m as agreed at an earlier date.

Amec chief executive, Sir Peter Mason, said: "This transaction, together with the downsizing of construction management activities in North America, improves Amec's overall risk profile.

"Through furthering its focus on engineering services and higher margin construction activity, Amec now has the ability to add value through its consultancy, design and project management services."
