£40m Edinburgh PFI selects four bidders

Four housing associations are vying to unlock a £40m social housing PFI project in Edinburgh.

The project involves new build and refurbishment work for the city council, under a design, build, own and manage deal.

The contestants are: Edinvar Housing Association; Sanctuary (Scotland); Home in Scotland; and Dunedin Housing Association.

Towards the end of this year, the winning housing association will advertise in the OJEC for contractors interested in carrying out the work.

The deal, which centres on Edinburgh's Moredon Park and Hyvot estates, involves 800 homes. The housing association's contractor will build 400 new homes for rent and refurbish 400 existing properties.

Work on site is expected to start next April, with completion expected in five to six years' time under a rolling programme of new build and refurb.
