BAA and its M&E contractors have drawn up a draft supplementary project agreement (SPA) for T5 for discussion with trade union Amicus.
In July the union threatened to turn the T5 site into "a battleground" if BAA failed to adopt the Major Projects M&E Agreement (MPA). The airports operator said it would adopt the MPA if an SPA was agreed.
Amec has led the discussions. Grahame Ludlow, managing director of Amec's building and facilities services operations, said he was confident talks with Amicus would start soon.
Amicus national officer Paul Corby said: "I would urge everyone involved to keep the momentum going. We will do everything we can to assist the process of getting the MPA into T5."
T5 construction director Andrew Wolstenholme said: "We look forward to Amicus and our suppliers reaching a satisfactory agreement."
