Takeuchi's TB23R shows at Saltex

The first zero tailswing excavator has been added to Takeuchi's range in the form of the TB23R prototype on display at Saltex.

At 1.4m, the machine has a wide track for its 2.1t operating weight and features an offset kingpost offering 50¼/80¼ of swing angle.

The maximum dig depth is 2.3m with a maximum bucket dig force of 18.8kN and the dump height is 2.8m. The unit is powered by a 13.6kW Yanmar engine, the canopy machine has a gradability of 30û and travel speeds of 2.3km/h and 4.2km/h.

It has an all-steel construction and production models (available next year) will have a tilting platform for service access. While this is the manufacturer's first zero tailswing excavator, it is unlikely to be the last and both 5t and 8t units could follow as this type of machine accounts for 95% of sales in Japan, Takeuchi's home market.
