The Adult Learning Inspectorate (ALI) has praised the National Construction College (NCC) over its training provision, with all aspects of the service offered graded as satisfactory or better.
Following assessment by ALI inspectors between March and July 2003, a report published today (Friday) shows that the NCC's main strengths include its success in building strong links with industry and employers, particularly high health and safety standards and strong promotion of equal opportunities.
The report also praises the NCC's high standards of teaching and training and significant student retention rates.
NCC general manager David Boyden said: "The positive results reflect the key improvements to the NCC's overall service, the contributions of a very dedicated team of staff and trainers and the commitment of our trainees.
"Our goal is to continue to become more customer focused as this will enhance our ability to help the industry meet its target of a qualified workforce by 2010."
The NCC is the training division of the Construction Industry Training Board and offers a comprehensive range of training courses in construction skills at four college sites in Birmingham, Glasgow, Erith in Kent and Bircham Newton in Norfolk.
