Welsh company Stradform has been awarded a £15m contract to transform former council offices into a major multi-use development in the heart of the city centre.
Stradform will now convert the former Mid Glamorgan council offices on Greyfriars Road into a development comprising 36 spacious apartments, a four-star hotel, restaurant and leisure complex with spa and pool.
Three new floors are to be added to the existing building to accommodate Park View, the development of two and three-bedroom apartments with expansive balconies and roof gardens. A car park is to be built in the basement and a separately-operated health and fitness spa will be constructed on part of the ground and first floor.
Forming a major part of the construction works, the 130 bedroom hotel, "Cardiff Park Plaza", is due for completion in early 2005.
Stradform had already spent 12 months carrying out major enabling works in the heart of the building.
