Repair of lift installations contract - Wandsworth Borough Council


WANDSWORTH BOROUGH COUNCIL
COMPETITIVE TENDERING OF MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR OF LIFT INSTALLATIONS CONTRACT
Contractors wishing to be considered to tender for the regular maintenance
and repair of 400 lift installations of different types and manufacture,
serving Housing Properties throughout the Borough, should submit their
names to the Chief Executive and Director of Administration, Room 110, The
Town Hall, Wandsworth High Street, London SW18 2PU by 26th September 2003.
The works will comprise the detailed maintenance and repair of 400 lift
installations situated throughout the Borough, and the provision of an
effective 24 hours breakdown service supported by a comprehensive

manufacturing and stores facility capable of responding promptly to a wide
array of equipment failures and malfunctions.
Contractors must display an operational system that enables telephone
communication between his supervisory staff and the Council at all times
and provide a level of lift service and repair capable of meeting the
exacting requirement of a client equipped with a comprehensive remote
monitoring and telediagnostic system which forms the hub of his contract
supervision and management.
Selected contractors will be invited to tender for a five year contract
period commencing February 2004 with an Employer's option to extend for a
further two years.
All applicants must provide the following with their expression of interest:-
(a) The full names and address of three referees who are able to
provide details of this contractors technical competence specifically in
this type of work. Also their ability to meet the requirement of a client
who utilises fully the high degree of equipment and contract surveillance
that an effective lift monitoring system provides in the supervision and
management of this contract.
(b) Audited accounts for the last two years (and group consolidated
accounts if the company is part of a group).
(c) Details of the Company's Safety Policy.
(d) The name(s) and address(es) of the Company's banker(s).
(e) Evidence of the ability and capacity to operate a system to monitor
and record service and breakdown reports and generate invoices to
accordance with the requirement of this authority.
Applicants should refer only to the above mentioned scheme in their reply
and must not incorporate replies to other advertisements placed by
Wandsworth Borough Council. Late applications will not be considered.
All contractors invited to tender will be required to complete the
Council's evaluation questionnaire on Health and Safety and Equal
Opportunities.
A Performance Bond equivalent to five per cent of the contracts sum, or a
parent company guarantee, will be required from the successful tenderer.
The successful tenderer will be required to have insurance cover under
Public Liability to a minimum of £5,000,000 and obtain a Construction
Industry Tax Deduction Certificate.
