British construction firms won £4.2bn of new work overseas last year, according to the latest data from the Department of Trade & Industry (DTI).
This figure is a drop from 2001 when British firms won £4.7bn of new work. However, output is up from £4.5bn in 2001 to £4.6bn last year.
New work increased in the Middle East, the Americas and Oceania. However, contract awards dropped in Europe, the Far East and Africa.
Output increased in Africa, the Americas and Oceania, but dropped in Europe, the Middle East and the Far East.
