Carillion is preferred bidder to build the £60m Royal Ottawa Hospital in Canada under a public private partnership initiative.

John Martin gets its bearings on M6 viaduct
John Martin Construction has been awarded a £24.1m contract to replace the bearings on the northbound Thelwall viaduct on the M6 in Cheshire. Each bearing location will need to be jacked up before work can start.

Totty gets phase two at Brewery Wharf
Totty Construction has won a £10m contract with Barratt Leeds for Brewery Wharf phase two, having completed the first phase of the residential development in June last year. Completion is set for summer 2005.

Monk Dunstone director dies
Neil Kenworthy, formerly a director of Monk Dunstone Associates (MDA), died last month of a heart attack. He retired from MDA in February 2002 after 36 years but continued working on a consultancy basis.
