Galliford Try, as part of the gbconsortium, has been named preferred bidder for the £42m Coventry LIFT scheme.
Galliford beat Prime UK and ExcellCare.
The contract is worth £42m in the first two years. The initial project is to build a new GP surgery, two new health campuses and phase one of a Coventry city centre development.
Galliford chief executive David Calverley said: "We are delighted to have secured a key target contract in our strategy to increase Galliford Try's presence in the public sector health market."
The gbconsortium includes British Healthcare Enterprises and Sapphire Primary Care Developments.
