Two Doncaster carpenters have been paid £2,000 each in an
out-of-court settlement after their London-based employee sacked
them for leaving early to see a Def Leppard concert.
Glen Wilkinson and Neil Harvey had worked for Glade Builders for
two years. However, they were dismissed without warning after they
left the capital two hours early to travel to Sheffield to see the
gig.
The case was finally settled at an industrial tribunal in Croydon,
London, last month.
Michael Dooley, of union UCATT which took up the case, said: "The
settlement was amicable on all sides."
Glade Builders refused to comment.
