New boss at George Wimpey

George Wimpey has appointed Peter Redfern as managing director of George Wimpey UK.

The announcement by Britain's biggest housebuilder was made alongside a trading update by the company which expects its full year performance including sales volumes, prices and margins to meet or beat market forecasts.

Virtually all of the year's total expected sales have now either been completed or been reserved, the company added.

Peter Redfern, currently finance director of the company, will take up the position in January.

Keith Cushen is due to step down from the board as chief executive at the end of 2003 but will continue to provide consultancy services to the company in 2004.
